HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY!

Today we are celebrating International Women’s Day at our school. This day is about celebrating the many social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women throughout history. It is also a wonderful opportunity to teach our students about gender equality.

Teaching gender equality from a young age is a vital part of promoting respect, ensuring equal opportunities for all and inspiring the next generation of women.

Here we show you how we are commemorating this occasion with the students.

Influential Women on Our English Corner Wall

Our students have read about inspiring female role models, such as The Brontë Sisters, Elizabeth I, Victoria Kent, Mariana Pineda, Amaleia Earhart, María Zambrano, etc. All of them were women and girls who tackled challenges, solved problems and followed their passion.

Once they have finished learning about these strong female role models, each student has written a short essay about one of these. The one they admire or aspire to be like, such as a female author, an actor or a director.  

Also, during the break, the students from "ciclo de sociosanitaria" have performed the song "La Puerta Violeta" by Rozalén in sign language at the stair of the Annex building. Here you can watch an extract of  the video. 

Besides, we would like to recommend watching an empowering movie. If you don’t want to forget this International Women’s Day, watch the movies Cine Méliès proposes fot this weekend:  “Una Cuestión de Genero” and “María, Reina de Escocia” . They promote gender equality or show women doing something fearless.

¡FELIZ DÍA DE LA MUJER!

Hoy estamos de celebración en el IES Ostippo. Es el Día de la Mujer, un día en el que conmemoramos todos los logros sociales, económicos, culturales y políticos conseguidos por las mujeres a lo largo de la historia.

Inculcar la igualdad de género desde edades tempranas, es vital para promover el respeto, garantizar la igualdad de oportunidades e inspirar a nuestras niñas, la próxima generación de mujeres.

Os mostramos algunas de las actividades que estamos realizando hoy en el instituto.

Los estudiantes han investigado sobre la vida de mujeres inspiradoras como las hermanas Brontë, Isabel I de Inglaterra, Mariana Pineda, Amelia Earhart, María Zambrano, y por supuesto las andaluzas Victoria Kent, Mariana Pineda, María Zambrano,  ….todas ellas mujeres que se enfrentaron con pasión y valentía a los retos y problemas de sus tiempo.

A continuación, cada alumno ha plasmado en murales los hechos más importantes de su vida y los ha expuesto, tal y como podéis ver aquí. 

Durante el recreo, nuestras compañeras del "ciclo de sociosanitaria" han interpretado la canción "La Puerta Violeta" de Rozalén usando el lenguaje de signos. 

Como colofón a las celebraciones de este día de la mujer le recomendamos a nuetros alumnos las películas que Cine Méliès proyecta este fin de semana en Estepa: “Una Cuestión de Genero” and “María, Reina de Escocia”. Son películas que empoderan el papel de la mujer y promueven la igualdad.
